About

ATAMI History

All Things Artistic Ministries, Inc. (ATAMI) was conceived by founder, Dr. Debby Mitchell in 1991 from a desire to create a community of highly skilled artists who recognize their talents as gifts from God and use them to serve humanity and glorify God. ATAMI was established in 2009 and became a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization in March of 2013. Although ATAMI is a faith-based organization, programs are open to participants from diverse backgrounds.

ATAMI has conducted a one-day retreat, “Life in the Beloved”, and a 6-week spiritual formation group for artists. ATAMI Christian Writers, a critique group has met weekly since May of 2011.  In 2012, we conducted a 4-week creative writing workshop and began hosting, “A Gathering of Artists” networking events.

In 2013, ATAMI defined the Willow Run community of Ypsilanti, Michigan as its outreach area for arts education. ATAMI hosted an eight-week “Art in the Park” make-it-take summer program for youth collaborating with the “Ballin’ on the Boulevard” summer basketball program. The 90-minute sessions hosted up to 30 participants. Several parents attended with their children weekly. We used the opportunity to also introduce parents to community resources available to their families. The program was free to participants.

ATAMI became a 501(c) (3) non-profit tax exempt organization in March of 2013. Your donations to ATAMI are tax-deductible.

ATAMI Mission

The mission of All Things Artistic Ministries Inc. (ATAMI) is to glorify God and serve humanity through the arts.

John 15:5, 8, 16 are foundational to the establishment and operation of this Arts ministry.

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”

We believe that an artist who maintains a relationship with God will produce work that nourishes God’s people.  To carry out its mission, ATAMI will:

  1. Cultivate a community of spiritually mature, highly skilled artists who produce works of art that glorify God.
  2. Stimulate a love for the creator by fostering an appreciation of the arts
  3. Promote art as a spiritual and character development tool.
